Network Systems Engineer

Summary

Brennan Industries is seeking an experienced, talented, mission-driven professional “Network Systems Engineer”. The Network Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Brennan’s computer networks. Primary role is to ensure that the network infrastructure is up and running smoothly, performing optimally and securely and support our end users on the many applications that run on the Brennan network. The individual filling this position will collaborate with their Brennan peers to manage the Brennan ecosystem.

Primary Responsibilities

Key responsibilities as our Network Systems Engineer include:
  • Designing and planning network infrastructure to meet the organization’s needs, considering security, reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining Cisco network equipment such as firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Install, maintain and configure Windows servers, services and end user systems.
  • Administer and support core Microsoft on-premises and Azure domains, including user administration, group policy, and domain configuration.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving network issues, both hardware, and software related.
  • Monitoring network performance to ensure that it is operating efficiently and proactively taking action to prevent downtime or degraded performance.
  • Ensuring network security by implementing and maintaining firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security measures.
  • Performing/Auditing regular network backups, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Collaborating with other IT teams, such as our IT Helpdesk Team and application support team, to ensure that the network infrastructure supports the organization’s applications and services.
  • Working with our outside vendors to maintain, enhance and develop value to Brennan.
  • Developing and maintaining network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Managing and maintaining Office365 applications and services
  • Mentor and cross-train team members on existing and new technologies
  • Management of Meraki network devices and camera systems
  • Provide technical support to end users for ticketed issues.
  • Maintain/Audit Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity system of Brennan data systems.
  • Assist with hardware, firewall, telecom and software vendor evaluations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent 5-7 years of experience as a Senior Systems Administrator in a Microsoft Windows ecosystem
  • Hardware and software deployment and management experience
  • End user support capabilities
  • Experience monitoring and responding to issues within a Windows domain
  • Experience with Office 365 configuration and management
  • Experience creating and managing group policies.
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, multiple VLANS, network segregation, and controlled network access
  • Overall strong focus on security and compliance
  • Customer-centric mindset and ability to conceptualize and implement end-to-end solutions that scale
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Team-focused attitude
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with identity management, single sign on (SSO) and MFA
  • Cisco Meraki experience configuring firewalls, wired and wireless networks, and cameras
  • Experience with administration and integration of Cloud-based SaaS applications
  • Experience with VMware VeloCloud networks
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint deployment, configuration, and management
  • Experience with Webex Calling management.
  • Experience with PDQ Inventory and Deployment
  • Experience with Rapid7 Insight IDR
  • Knowledge of information security and data protection best practices and system hardening
